Keeping Their Baby’s Gender A Secret

Have you heard of the baby Storm? The child was born in New Year’s day and the parents decided to keep Storm’s gender a secret because the parents believe that it is –a tribute to freedom and choice in place of limitation, a stand up to what the world could become in Storm’s lifetime (a more progressive place? …).”

The only people who know Storm’s gender are the 2 older brothers, the midwives who helped during childbirth, and a very close family friend. While the parents believe that through this they’re giving their child freedom to choose of whoever he or she wants to be, I don’t think I would make the same experiment with my own kid. Questions arise from this issue like, is gender a psychological thing? or is it innate or learned? Has there been studies about gender and raising a genderless child?

In my honest opinion, I don’t want my child to guess what his or her gender is. I want her to know the facts and learn from there. I want my child to discover who he/she is and be whatever he/she wants. I as a parent will always provide opportunities for my child and it’s up to him/her to make the most of it. Lastly what do I want people to call my child, IT?
