What’s there to Love in Coffee?

Just about everyone loves a great cup of coffee. Coffee is considered an art form by many people in fact coffee shops embraced this idea and started putting “art” on their coffee.  For me, coffee is an essential part of my day. I feel energized and refreshed after taking my coffee dose. I used to drink around 5 or more cups a day but I started to feel slight tremors so I cut it down to two.

There are lots of different coffee types to choose from. There are those who like dark roasted beans, while some prefer milder flavors. Personally I like dark roasted ones as a treat but I am yet to try coffee without sugar in it.

You can also find flavored coffees. A lot of people, myself included, like to add the flavoring by way of a creamer once the coffee has been brewed. There’s also sugar cinnamon, hazelnut or whatevs.

Over and under-brewing are common coffee mistakes.

The usually accepted brewing time in the coffee world is four and a half minutes, give or take thirty seconds. Coffee that tastes bitter usually has been brewed for too many minutes. On the other hand, if the coffee isn’t brewed for enough time, it won’t have that rich flavor that most of us prefer.

Do not discard coffee that you have not used.

Do not heat it up again. Instead, save it in a plastic container that is airtight, and put it in your refrigerator. This will give you the ability to make iced coffee in the future. Also it’s a great soil fertilizer.

Are you watching your sugar intake but still want some sweet coffee?

Warm up milk and pour it into the coffee. Warm milk has natural sweetness, and it takes the place of the cream as well. Compared to cream and sugar, milk is also much healthier.

Without any of the fattening ingredients, like cream, coffee can actually assist you in your weight loss endeavors. If you drink your coffee with sugar in it, you are probably cancelling its fat-burning properties. If you add a cup of black coffee to your morning routine, it will become easier to maintain your target weight.

Whenever possible, use coffee grounds made from beans grown without pesticides. Coffee beans have a high level of absorbancy, and the flavor of the beans is derived from it’s surrounding soil. This means that while most organic food is of questionable quality, organic coffee can actually taste much better than traditional coffee.

If you cannot find a coffee brew that you like, try combining two complementary flavors. Specialty coffee shops may help you choose the best blend for your tastes and they may give you a sample prior to buying in bulk.

Does the coffee you make each day in your dripping machine make you happy?

In order to enjoy better tasting coffee, allow the machine to run with just water beforehand so that it can heat up. When it’s heated the full cup of water, you may begin again with the grounds. This will also help clean the machine.

Be sure that the temperature of the water for your coffee reaches between 195 to 205 degrees. Cheaper designs usually don’t reach that temperature. Try to get the water hot yourself when making coffee. Many people swear by their French press for brewing the best coffee.

Coffee isn’t bad as long as you know your limit. I’ve been a coffee drinker since College and I guess I never stopped. How about you, what’s your favorite coffee flavor? How do you want your coffee, hot or cold?

Coffee is my addiction. I am guilty on buying coffee from over priced coffee shops because I like variations from my drink. My husband says, it’s a good addiction- good because I’m not addicted on other more expensive stuff like bags, shoes and timepieces from Caravelle by Bulova. LOL.
