Last December 24, I was invited along with the other online journalists to witness Kraft Eden in partnership with ABS CBN and other companies give Mandaluyong City their award for being on Kraft Eden’s Top 9 winning recipes as part of Sarap nang Pasko 100 Days of Christmas. It was held right after the last Simbang Gabi of the year at San Felipe Parish Church in Mandaluyong City.

Here’s a short briefer, Kraft Eden launched their Sarap nang Pasko 100 Days of Christmas exactly 100 days BEFORE Christmas last September and called on townsmen across the Philippines to submit their original recipe and use Kraft Eden as part of the ingredients. Several towns from North to South joined the contest in hopes of winning the P2,000,000 worth of prizes for the winning town and P10,000 for the dish creator. People from different communities were brought together as one town to work on their recipes. And just recently, Kraft Eden announced the Top 9 winning recipes (and towns) and they are:

Guimbal, Iloilo- Pininyahan Manok with Cheese
Camiling, Tarlac- Cheesy Carbonara con Chicharon de
Loboc, Bohol- Cheese crab and Young coconut with Kangkong
Binan, Laguna- Topazzo
Malabon City – Pancit Malabon with Cheese crackling Toppings
Paranaque City- Shaggy Cheesy Roll
San Miguel, Bulacan- Filled Katuray ala Keso en Tuna
Muntinlupa City- Kraft Malunggay Fettuccine
Mandaluyong City – Trio Cheeze Delight

Every town chooses a charitable institution to share their blessings with and as for the kind people in Mandaluyong, they chose a children’s institution and several poor families from their community. Kraft Eden fed them and gave them several gifts for Christmas.

ABS-CBN’s Umagang Kay Ganda hosts and crew were also there to celebrate with the Mandaluyong residents and  feature their winning recipe which is Trio Cheeze Delight

Kraft Eden’s Senior Brand Manager, Ms. Anna Sapitan and Kraft Eden’s Category Manager, Mr. Alex Tacderas graced the occasion and gladly sat with us for an interview. According to Mr. Alex, next year’s event will be even bigger and brighter and that Kraft will continue to bring families together.
I like Ms. Anna’s enthusiastic reply when asked how the whole program was conceptualized. According to her, it was because of passion and the urge to bring families together during Christmas which is the essence of every Filipino household during the Christmas season.

I salute Kraft Eden for bringing Sarap nang Pasko 100 Days of Christmas to the Filipino families which I think tapped the love of every Filipino family to sit and talk while sharing a sumptuous meal together. No wonder the program is such a huge success! I personally believe on Kraft’s products and use them on a daily basis and I can only imagine how easy it was for the contestants to integrate Kraft Eden on their recipes.
The entire program I think, gave each town a reason to rediscover a long lost Filipino tradition, “bayanihan”. Folks were brought together in unity to create a dish that would capture the hearts (and palates) of many.
I also applaud Kraft for doing the awarding ceremony right after Simbang Gabi. This just shows that the apart from the food that families enjoy during the holidays, it’s more so about Jesus, our Savior.

Lastly, I congratulate the winning towns and as well as the other 91 towns who joined Sarap nang Pasko 100 Days of Christmas

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year, Philippines!
