Have you seen the new boyfriend-girlfriend commercial by McDonalds? I’m not sure if it’s shown on the local channels but I’ve seen it on social network sites and blogs. I felt strongly about the new commercial and got inspired to do a post (I am not taking it against McDonalds, in fact I posted about their Kiddie crew workshop) The problem here is that the kids on the commercial were at least 10 years old (or below)- they’re too young for the boyfriend-girlfriend concept. Watch the McDonalds New BF-GF Commercial:

I don’t like the entire script either. Are we teaching young girls that it’s okay to ask young boys to buy them stuff? Are we teaching young kids to run off to the nearest food chain without adult supervision?

Fine, I’m over reacting but I’m a Mom with a preschooler and I certainly frown on this concept. Shoot me.
I do know how much a TV Commercial can influence my daughter’s young mind. I’ve watched her “believe” on them.

McDonald’s had an earlier tween version of this commercial. I don’t know what pushed their marketing team to lower the age bracket and redo the BF-GF concept.

Now this was perfectly fine. The message was heart warming and appropriate. It makes me think that McDonalds recently changed their marketing team. They used to have really nice commercials that’s why I’m truly disappointed with the recent one they had.

How about you, do you find it cute?
