I just had a harsh realization early today while nursing a terrible flu.
My cousin is in town to take a licensing exam to be able to apply work in AbuDhabi. I was asking why he needed to work overseas when he’s already a Nursing Supervisor at a private hospital in the province, thinking he is earning around P18,000 a month.
I was shocked to know he is getting paid P7,500 net per month!
Some entry level nurses receive P5300 per month.
How in the world will our nurses survive on that?
Sigh.
Now I pray he pass the exam and that he can work abroad. There’s no reason to remain “makabayan” at this rate.
Sad.
